Foot-Candle/Lux Converter

Use this converter to either convert your Foot-Candle detector sensitivity factor to Lux or vice-versa for continuous measurement in the opposite unit or convert a single reading already taken in Foot-Candles to Lux or vice-versa.

Illuminance:

Illuminance is a measure of photometric flux per unit area, or visible flux density. Illuminance is typically expressed in Lux (lumens per square meter) or foot-candles (lumens per square foot).

You may use this form to convert either your sensitivity factor from your detector's calibration certificate in Lux or Foot-candles or a reading you have taken in Lux or Foot-candles using your system, to the opposite unit in Lux or foot-candles. Please note: The sensitivity factor on your calibration certificate is expressed in (Amps)(m²)(lm-1) for Lux or (Amps)(ft²)(lm-1) for foot-candles but will be referred to as a sensitivity factor in Lux or Foot-candles here for simplicity.

Data may be entered into the converter over the default value, either as a whole number (i.e. 20, 0.5, etc...) or in scientific notation (i.e. 2.00e+01, 5.00e-01, etc..). Enter the original number in the d1 box. Next choose whether that number is a sensitivity factor or a reading.. After that, choose what the units are for that factor or reading: foot-candles or lux. Click the Calculate button to calculate what the factor or reading is converted to the opposite unit. Click the Reset button to return the converter to the default values. Click the Print button to print the results.

Enter your original number: Is that number a sensitivity factor or a reading? Units of that number:
