Online QNDS Self-Calibration Calculator
Use this calculator to obtain a new calibration sensitivity factor for a detector when a neutral density filter (QNDS1, QNDS2 OR QNDS3) is added to the assembly in the field.
To use this calculator:
- If using the IL1700 meter, enter your sensitivity factor for your detector without the QNDS Filter attached (found on your detectors calibration certificate) into the IL1700 (see operators manual for instructions). Or simply plug the detector without QNDS Filter into the IL1400A meter. Regardles of which meter you are using, enter the sensitivity factor for your detector into the sensitivity factor box in the calculator below.
- Make a measurement without the QNDS Filter attached. Please allow for a greater distance between the source and the detector than actually desired in to prevent saturation or overrange. Enter this reading into the WITHOUT the QNDS attenuator on box in the calculator below.
- Add neutral density filter to detector/filter combination. It is normally placed between the filter and the input optic in order to protect the filter.
- Make another measurement at same distance as in step# 2. Enter this reading into the WITH the QNDS attenuator on box in the calculator below.
- Click the Calculate button to calculate a new sensitivity factor, for use with the QNDS Filter attached. Press the Reset button to return the calculator to the default values. Hit the Print button to print the calculator results.
